Yorùbá for adults
"I understand Yoruba but I can't speak" is not a flex. Soro is the live speaking programme for Yoruba adults who are ready to stop holding back.
Why Soro
Sọ̀rọ̀ · to speak
"I lived with my grandmother for most of my teenage years. She spoke only Yoruba, so I understood the language well. But whenever I tried to speak it, my accent sounded off and the words rarely came out quite right, so I always replied in English. Now I'm a dad, and I want my children to speak Yoruba well. The problem is, I can't."Oluwatoni · Co-founder
If you feel that shame and you want to change it, then Soro is for you. A safe space to practice speaking Yoruba without the fear of judgement. Every session brings you closer to speaking like a proper Yoruba person.
Meet Ẹgbẹ́ Sọ̀rọ̀
Oluwatoni and Mayowa are co-founders, and both are students of Yorùbá themselves, still learning to speak with the same confidence they're building Soro to give others.

Why Ẹgbẹ́ Sọ̀rọ̀ works
You already understand Yorùbá. But you don't speak it because you are afraid of sounding silly or you don't have enough opportunities to speak Yorùbá. But the only way to speak better Yoruba is to speak.
You're busy. Between work, family and other commitments, one hour of speaking Yorùbá every week is realistic and better than another week of wishing. Consistency > intensity
You learn best when you are having fun and that's why we only approve Akónísọ̀nàs who are friendly, focused and of course fluent.
When someone in your group stumbles over the same word that you do and keeps going, your own fear shrinks.
Three for a reason
Language apps leave you with a streak. Soro gives you a room where hesitation turns into confident conversation, with no one keeping score of your mistakes. No one will make fun of you. Not even your Atọ́nísọ̀nà.
People
A group small enough to speak. Safe enough to stumble.
Atọ́nísọ̀nà
A friendly and fluent Atọ́nísọ̀nà (guide) who holds space for you to speak, stumble and stretch toward fluency without mockery or smirks.
Hour
Learning to speak Yoruba is a marathon not a sprint. 1 hour of consistent speaking practice every week is your path to fluency.

The future of Soro
We're creating more ways for families to hear, enjoy, and speak Yoruba. Through stories, songs, and accessible learning resources, we're helping keep the language alive for the next generation.
Learning to speak Yoruba is good, but learning to speak your dialect is even better. As Soro grows, we hope to create spaces for people to reconnect with Yoruba dialects like Ondó, Ìjẹ̀bú, or Èkìtí.
Celebrate and connect with your Yoruba heritage through thoughtfully created cultural products like conversation cards, flash cards, merch, hats, books and more.
Pick your Sọ̀rọ̀ plan today, and by the weekend, you'll be speaking Yorùbá with your Ẹgbẹ́ Sọ̀rọ̀.
